Pretty Woman

What makes a woman pretty or beautiful? I am sure you have seen pictures of Anna Nicole Smith. The world would say she was a pretty woman, but was she really? How did she look in God's eyes? The Bible tells us in 1Samuel 16:7b, "the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."

I'm sure most of you will remember the old adage "Pretty is as pretty does." There is a fair amount of truth in that statement. But something in which is complete truth is the Bible and it puts it this way :
Luke 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Based on that, Anna Nicole Smith was not a very pretty woman. She lived a very empty immoral life. I personally feel very sorry for her. She had physical beauty as far as the world was concerned but nothing inside to give her peace or contentment. If she had she wouldn't have turned to drugs. An empty immoral life and an hopeless eternity. How sad.

There is a lot of emphasis put on outward beauty in our world today, from makeup to cosmetic surgery to extreme weight control to those who strive to be totally different as "freaks". Some of these things in moderation may not be wrong, but do they make a woman beautiful in God's eyes? NO!

To see what does, lets look at God's word. 1 Peter 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Does that mean it is wrong to wear jewelry, fix our hair excetra? NO, but rather that isn't to be our main emphasis. Before worrying about the outside worry about the inside. First and most important is to be saved, that is to know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and Lord. Second love Him and serve Him. Let the Holy Spirit bring forth His fruit in your life and you will be beautiful to God and to others. Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Then you will not only find real beauty, but peace and contentment to go with it. It all starts in Jesus Christ.
